Salisbury

Salisbury Maryland is the Eastern Shore’s largest city and known as “The Crossroads of Delmarva”. The city is located at the headwaters of the Wicomico River and the intersection of U.S Routes 50 and 13.

Originally settled as an outpost of Lord Baltimore’s, Salisbury's location was chosen because the Wicomico River was the only navigable waterway leading to the Chesapeake Bay. The city was founded in 1732 and incorporated in 1854. Today, Salisbury is the seat of Wicomico County MD and has a population of around 30,000. Major assets include a regional airport, a widely recognized hospital and two well-known schools of higher education, Wor-Wic Community College and Salisbury University.
